VERY QUIET
Small farming community
Serrato is one of the smallest villages in the Sierra de las Nieves National Park with only around five hundred inhabitants, making it an excellent place to learn about life in rural Malaga.

Escudo de Serrato
Serrato is a clean and bright "pueblo blanco" on the edge of the national park.

Situated a few kilometres north from El Burgo, you will find a quiet village surrounded by rolling countryside, olive groves and wheat fields.

Hidden in the mountains, it is close to Ronda and situated between the regions of Guadalteba and Sierra de las Nieves.
Serrato, Sierra de las Nieves
Serrato is a small village of around seven kilometres to the north of El Burgo. At the entrance to the village you will see the Fuente de Caño; the public source of fresh spring water for centuries before the houses had running water.

Nearby are the Cuevas del Becerro which are worth a visit.
In the centre of the village is the Iglesia Parroquial de Nuestra Señora del Rosario (Parish Church of Our Lady of the Rosary).
Given the areas fertile land and abundant water, the origins of Serrato date back to a Neolithic period farming community; developing into a village in the Roman period and then in the Arab era, witnessed by the remains of the Castillo de Ortegicar.
